Betty Lou Collins

Betty Lou Collins, 81, widow of Estill Collins, died October 25, 2021. Born November 5, 1939, in Midway, KY, Betty was the daughter of the late Irvin Smedley and Mattie Brown. She was always selfless and devoted herself to the care of others. You could always find her in the kitchen cooking for everyone. She is survived by her children Judy Bruggeman, Connie Dunn (Jody), and James Hurt (Judy); and her special children, Autumn Gilbert, Sky Gilbert, Summer Gilbert, Haley Hurt, Arianna Hurt and Franklin Hurt. Betty was grandmother to Michael Pennington, Nicole Smith, and Megan Hurt and a host of greatgrandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Sonny Smedley; her sisters, Pat Justice and Ruth Brown. She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Hurt, her granddaughter, Tina Hensen, sister, Linda Jenkins, and brothers Jerry Smedley and Selbert Smedley. Funeral Services will be 1:00PM, Saturday, October, 30, 2021. Visitation will be 6:00PM to 8:00PM Friday, October 29, 2021 both at Great Crossing Funeral & Cremation, 1400 N. Broadway, Lexington, KY 40505. Burial will follow in Midway Cemetery, Midway, KY.
