Calvin Douglas Kidwell, 71, loving husband of Nancy Simms Kidwell, died peacefully on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at his home in Georgetown.
Born July 12, 1953, to the late Roy Lee and Norma Mae Kidwell, he was a retired employee of the US Postal Service and a member of Georgetown First Church of the Nazarene. Calvin was an avid softball player for approximately 50 years and was inducted into the Nazarene National Softball Hall of Fame. He was passionate about southern gospel music and sharing his vocal talent alongside his wife throughout the community. If you knew Calvin, you knew he loved Jesus, family, UK basketball and FOOD!
Also surviving are his beloved 98-year old mother-in-law, Ada Simms; his three children: Kelly Jacobs of Winter Garden, FL, Carrie Kidwell of Firestone, CO, and Caleb (Brittany) Kidwell of Georgetown, KY; his daughter-in-law, Jessica Kidwell of Murfreesboro, TN (wife of son Adam Kidwell, who preceded him in death); 4 siblings: Jennifer (Jim) Krieger, Yvonne (Gene) Russell, Johnny Kidwell, and Gordon (Rita) Kidwell; and 7 grandchildren: Chloe Johnson, Abigail Jacobs, Wesley Jacobs, Ethan Staup, Clark Douglas Kidwell, Wesley Johnson, and Ada Mae Kidwell.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Georgetown First Church of the Nazarene, 726 Lemons Mill Rd, Georgetown, KY 40324. Visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M.
Honorary bearers are Tim Farrow, Gary Hoskins, Caleb Kidwell, Mike Morris, Danny Pirtle, Bobby Simms, David Simms, Dale Smith and Tommy Thomas.
