Della Faye (Hulett) Gaines

Della Faye Hulett Gaines, 74, of Lexington, wife of 55 years to Randell Gaines, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2026 at St. Joseph Hospital.

Born November 15, 1951 in Lexington to the late George & Iva Vannatta Hulett, she was a former employee of Fayette County Public Schools and a member of Irishtown Baptist Church. Della was a dedicated wife and mother, and truly devoted to her family.

Additional survivors include a son, Ora Ray (Shamika) Gaines; 2 brothers, James Edward Hulett & Wm. Luther “Ricky” Hulett; and 3 sisters: Theresa (Tommy) Workman, Hazel Lambert & Phyllis Hulett, along with several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Eugina Christine Hulett. 

Also preceding her in death are 3 sisters: Betty Garrett, Karen Southwell Rice & Rebecca Rankin; and a special nephew, James Bradley Hulett.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 4th at Great Crossing Funeral & Cremation by Rev. Jeff Gaines with burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Friends and family will serve as casketbearers.

Visitation will be after 6:00 P.M. Tuesday.
