Richard “Dick” James Henninger, 89, went to his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 11, 2023, in Lexington, KY. He lived a long and full life, and he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends; our loss is Heaven’s gain.
He began his career in Detroit, MI where he worked for many years in the engineering department at Michigan Bell. In the 1970s, he moved to Murray, KY where he owned and operated Dick’s Custom Auto Body Shop for over 25 years. In 2000, he retired to Clermont, FL and then later moved to Lexington, KY. He loved working on and racing cars, tinkering with anything that needed to be repaired whether at home or at church, spending time on the lake, touring on his motorcycle, and serving in Christian Motorcyclists Association’s prison ministry.
He was born in Grosse Pointe, MI on January 22, 1934, to Willard and Hermina Henninger. He is survived by Judith Ann (Allbritten) Henninger, his loving wife of 59 years. He is also survived by his three children Rick, Beth (Ken), and Tom (Dana), six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren that he dearly loved.
A memorial service will be held for the immediate family at a later date.
