Irene Louise Comley Flynn, 74, of Lexington, wife of 50 years to the late Harold R. Flynn, passed away Friday, February 6, 2026 at Mayfair Manor.
Born May 8, 1951 in Versailles to the late Charles Edward & Edna Rankin Comley, she worked for many years as a nurses’ aide at Mayfair Manor and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Irene was dedicated to her family and greatly enjoyed her life as a wife, mother and grandmother. She loved participating in sports in her youth, playing baseball and doing track and field. She liked listening to music, both gospel and country, especially Elvis and Johnny Cash.
Surviving are a daughter, Tonya Williams; 2 sisters, Sylvia (Ronnie) True and Nona Comley; 4 grandchildren: Ricky Flynn, Jr., Jazzlyn Owens, Tamra Owens & Kaiden Flynn; 6 great-grandchildren: Jasper, Ezra, Clarence, Bennie, Rayna & Godric; and a daughter-in-law, Sheila Flynn, along with a large extended family.
Also preceding her in death were a son, Ricky Flynn; a daughter, Michelle Flynn; 3 brothers: Daniel, Franklin & Lenard Comley; a sister, Mary Jane Burton; a granddaughter, Kara Flynn; and a great-granddaughter, Rowena.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 6th at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with burial to follow in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service.
