Joseph “Sonny” William Sloan, 84, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away on October 26, 2025. He was born on April 30, 1941, in Buckhannon, West Virginia, to the late Joseph Charles Sloan and Wilma Floyd Shifflett.
Joseph is survived by his children, Joey Sloan and Andrea Vinson; his beloved grandchildren, Chelsea (Josh) Ison, Logan (Courtney) Vinson, and McKenzie (Ben) Mattox; and four cherished great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy. Affectionately known as “Ampy” to his grandchildren, he will forever be remembered for the love and laughter he shared with them. He is also survived by his loving sisters, Donna Jean Bell and Willa Sue Kirkpatrick.
Joseph enjoyed life’s simple pleasures—spending time with his family, going on long walks, and exploring the beauty of Kentucky. He especially loved visiting places like the Salato “Game Farm” Wildlife Center and Ravens Run Nature Sanctuary, where he could take in nature and share those moments with his family.
He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, kind heart, and deep love for those closest to him.
A private celebration of Joseph’s life will be held by his family.
