Above all else, Elna Kay (Kit) Robinson Pritchard was a Mother. On September 5, 2025, she was suddenly called Home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Kay was born on March 15, 1950, in Lexington, Kentucky, to Mary McKinney Robinson and Jack Robinson. The family lived in the small city of Inez, in Eastern Kentucky, for several years, before permanently settling back in Lexington, in 1955. As the oldest girl, Kay was the little lady of the house and began her lifelong journey of doing her best to be a nurturer.
After the passing of her father, Jack, in 1960, she was blessed with her Daddy, Arnold Bruce Ward, in 1963.
Kay attended Linlee Elementary School, and went on to Bryan Station High School, where she met many lifelong friends and acquaintances.
As a mother, Kay was the epitome of the “Classroom Mom”. Head of the PTA at her children’s school (her very own Linlee), and she took pride in organizing seasonal festivals and fundraisers. She spent many weekends teaching Sunday school at church. And many days taking her boys to baseball practice. All while balancing homemaking, working odd jobs, and refereeing her children’s sibling rivalries.
In her prime, Kay lovingly referred to her home of 50 years in Lexington as “Grand Central Station”, where loved ones knew they would be welcomed with a cup of coffee, an apt quote of scripture, a constant soundtrack of music, and a very healthy dose of laughter.
She is preceded in death and met lovingly by her Mother, Mary; Father, Jack; Daddy, Bruce; Younger brother, Gerald Robinson; and so many beloved cousins, friends, and loved ones.
She is survived by her 2 siblings- Gary (Cindy) Robinson, & Cheryl Elliott; her 4 children- Bruce (Maribeth) Tolson, Mary DeAnne Blankenship, Aaron Tolson, and Kayla (Brian) Hofmann; her 6 grandchildren- Stacy (Chance) Cooper, Rebekah Burnett, Gaige (Krista) Blankenship, Darrian Blankenship, Chenoah Lessenberry & Maxwell Hofmann; and her 2 great-grandchildren- Ellea Blankenship and Emaline Cooper.
Kay touched countless lives in her 75 years on Earth, and came to know and love so many friends from all walks of life. She was the matriarch of a checkered and patched together family that persisted through life’s many ups and downs. She was steadfast in her faith in her Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, and was excited for the day she would get to be held in His Loving Arms.
The family will plan a Celebration of Life at a later date.
"But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint".
-Isaiah 40:31
