Larry Edward Owensby

Larry Edward Owensby, 84, husband of the late Sharon Kay (Rice) Owensby, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington.

Born January 21, 1940 in Louisville, he was a US Marine Corps veteran and worked for many years in the horse racing industry as a groom and assistant trainer.  Larry loved all sports, dancing, horse races, and indulging in good food.

Surviving are 3 daughters: Tracey [husband Junior] Carbajal, Denise [husband Earl] West & Kelly Erickson; 8 grandchildren: Gracieli, Xochitl & Joaquin; Brandy, James & Justin and Jennifer & Kenny; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Nellie Mae (Hunter) Worf; his father, Charles Owensby; his brothers, David & Glen Worf; and his sister, Eveline Savage.

Private graveside services will be held in Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
