Lois Jean Smith

Lois Jean Kern Smith, 64, wife of Kirby Smith, passed away Monday, May 29, 2023 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Born March 9, 1959 in Lexington to the late Leo F., Sr. & Corine Mitchell Kern, Lois was a kind, loving and giving person who treasured spending time with her family. Kirby was the love of her life, they would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on June 8th.

Additional survivors include her daughter, Brandi Smith (James Flowers); a brother, Leo F. (Mary) Kern, Jr.; 2 sisters, Linda Norman and Lisa Marie Brummett; 3 grandchildren: Jeremiah Christian Stokely, Landon Skyler Smith and Katherine Taylor Mason; and a large extended family.

Also preceding her in death were 3 brothers: Larry, Lonnie Wayne & Eddie Lee Kern, and a sister, Luella "Pixie" Hager.

A Gathering of Family & Friends will be held at 3:00P.M. Sunday, June 4th at Northeast Christian Church with a Time of Remembrance at 5:00P.M. In honor of Lois, please wear purple to her celebration.
